You’ll witness all of this horse’s wonderful skills while tucking into a lunch prepared using local produce. You’ll then have a chance to get to know the star of the show in its stable before saddling up for a riding tour of the picturesque Húnathing-vestra region.

Your Icelandic horse experience begins on the breeding and training farm of Gauksmýri, in the famous horse breeding region of Húnaþing-vestra. Offering stunning views all the way to the highlands of Iceland, the farm is located in a beautiful hillside setting. Here you’ll meet and find out about all of the characteristics and traits of the Icelandic horse, before sitting down to a delicious Icelandic soup meal served in the conservatory dining hall.

You’ll then make your way to the patio to see the horses parade around a display ring, showing off their five famous gaits with various riding styles. A bit of bad weather can never stand in the way, as the farm has its own indoor display arena.

Head back out to the stables to put your new Icelandic horse knowledge to the test. Here you’ll saddle up for a horseback tour of one of Iceland’s most beautiful regions.
