Víðidalstunguheiði is a common grazing area for the residents of Vididalur. It is a prosperous and blossoming valley in the North-western part of Iceland. The heath is beautifully thriven and is located about 400 to 500 meters above sea level, where the sources of the rivers Víðidalsá as well as Fitjá can be found. There are lots of great selections of fishing areas such as lakes, streams and gorges located there making It a true heaven for fishermen.

Lake or rivers to go to will be selected by guests and from there the hiking tour is assembled. Please keep in mind that weather conditions can be factors in what tours are offered. In general, the hiking tour begins with Kolugljúfur a natural wonder in Hunathing. Kolufoss waterfall streams into Kolugljúfur canyon, which is about 20 to 25 meter deep.  The sightseeing is from above, over the canyon and waterfall, making it an extremely unique point of view. This is one of the “must visit” places on your way through North Iceland.

Thus the tour carries on up to the common grazing area called Víðidalstunguheiði, where a wide range of fishing areas can be found. These waters are filled with brown trout, however, arctic char is also very likely to be caught, depending on the customers wishes in consultation with the guide.

Guests are advised to bring their own hiking equipment and dress according to the weather. However, it is also possible to rent fishing equipment for a nominal fee.

Price: 80.000 plus fee for fishing gear and pickup if needed.  Please note that the fishing permit is not included in the price.  Once customers choose which fishing area in Víðidalstunguheiði, then all  fishing permits will be arranged.
